How Volcanoes are Formed

Volcanoes usually form in places where tectonic plates meet. There are three main formations:

1. Convergent boundaries – plates collide and one goes under the other.

2. Divergent boundaries – plates move apart and magma rises.

3. Hotspots – magma rises from deep inside the Earth at a fixed point (e.g., Hawaii).
