How Volcanoes are Formed Volcanoes usually form in places where tectonic plates meet. There are three main formations: 1. Convergent boundaries – plates collide and one goes under the other. 2. Divergent boundaries – plates move apart and magma rises. 3. Hotspots – magma rises from deep inside the Earth at a fixed point (e.g., Hawaii).

  1. Shield Volcano Wide and gently sloping Lava flows easily Example: Mauna Loa in Hawaii 2. Stratovolcano (Composite Volcano) Steep and tall Explosive eruptions Example: Mount Fuji in Japan 3. Cinder Cone Volcano Small and steep Made mostly of ash and rock Short-lived eruptions

 1. Magma :  This is hot, molten rock from the Earth's interior . When it erupts onto the Earth's surface, it is called lava. 2. Lava :   When magma erupts onto the Earth's surface, it becomes very hot. As it cools, it hardens, forming a series of precious solids that form volcanoes . 3. Crater :  The top of a volcano, where lava and gases erupt. This is a deep, circular depression. 4. Volcanic Gas :   When a volcano is active, hot gases such as water vapor, carbon dioxide, sulfur dioxide , and other gases are released. 5. Plug :  This is a mass of cooled lava accumulated at the mouth of the volcano, which can sometimes stop the volcano from erupting.

What is a volcano? A volcano is  a place on the Earth's surface where hot lava and heat (molten rock), harmful gases, ash, and smoke from within the Earth come out.And this is a group of hot rocks that, after an earthquake on Earth many years ago, took the form of a large crater, which we know as a volcano . How does a volcano form? Volcanoes are formed by the movement of the Earth's tectonic plates. When plates collide or separate, magma from within the Earth finds its way to the surface and can erupt, forming a volcano.

Volcanic Eruptions : (Harm) and (Benefits) Harm from a Volcanic Eruption                   Harm 1-Threat to human life Illness from excessive amounts of lava and ash 2- Damage to land and buildings Damage to homes, roads, hospitals, schools, and bridges 3- Losses to agriculture and farmers Entire crops are destroyed, and ash ruins the crops. 4- Losses to the tourism industry Industries are shut down, leaving the space vacant.                             Benefits Benefits of Volcanic Eruptions 1- Volcanic ash enriches soil for agricultural fields over time. 2- Minerals and Resources Volcanic regions are rich in minerals like gold, copper, zinc, and other precious minerals. 3-Geothermal Energy Hot rocks can be used to generate electricity and heat—used in many countries. 4-Increased Tourism Over time, it becomes a popular attraction (e.g., volcanic mountains, hot sprin...
